Anyone who thought it was hard to get through Infinite Jest clearly hasn’t tried to read any of Kafka’s early stuff. Jeeeeesus. It’s like wading through molasses…only less rewarding.

Yet when I was carrying Infinite Jest around, I got all these Daaaaaamn Girl comments from strangers, and now? Riding the train, Complete Works in hand, nary a peep from onlookers. If I ever see a homegirl reading some hefty Kafka tome I am striking up hell of conversations immediately.
